YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD TO BE A CONTENT CREATOR

“You too old to be on Tik Tok.” That’s what my son kept telling me. I decided not to listen. At 56 years old, I had an epiphany. I push my clients to get out of their comfort zone. What do I need to do to get out of mine?

Video’s popped into my head. It seemed like a crazy idea. I was terrified of being seen on camera. (You have to be vulnerable.) Can I do it? Yes, I can. Why not me?

I went in the direction that life was taking me. I became a #50PlusContentCreator and LinkedIn TOP VOICE. I have tens of thousands of social media views, likes, and comments. People have spent hours watching what I have created. It amazes me. I have grown tremendously. My confidence has increased. My self-doubt and imposter syndrome have vanished. I am the best version of myself. It just took time to get here.

People ask me all the time: “What is it like to be a content creator at your age?” Probably not any different than someone younger than me. But, in reality, there is a big difference. My generation did not grow up recording video’s and posting content online. It is something we had to learn and become comfortable with.

There is also a stigma about getting older and we have mixed feelings about it. We fear it. Yet, we also celebrate what we have accomplished. There is an important decision to be made as you age. Do you want to become invisible or enter the second half of your life with gusto and courage? I chose gusto. I am not hiding. I am front and center sharing my message with the world.
