Are you a planner? Do you plan so that you will be prepared and effective, or is your planning simply a method to cope with fear and worry?

If you regularly read the weekly action tips and the e-newsletters, then you know that I believe in planning. It is a key component to reaching goals. But there is a difference between planning that keeps you on track, and over-planning that keeps you from moving forward.

THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE

Your challenge this week is to eliminate over planning.

Draw a line down the middle of a piece of paper. In the left hand column, list some measurable career goals. In the right hand column, write down "Over Planning" or "Taking Action." You may be surprised to see that you spend more time thinking about your goals than taking the necessary steps to reach them.

Thinking and planning are good traits to have if they help you in the decision-making process. But if they keep you from achieving your goals, or hold up your forward movement, then it may be time to evaluate whether they are helping you or halting your progress.

Work hard and plan away! But not at the expense of you reaching your goal.

So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!

ARE YOU OUT OF WORK OR OVERWORKED?

If you answered YES, then working with a coach may be your best career move.

Many people who have hired me can now say that they are happier in their careers than they ever thought possible.

HERE IS WHAT ONE CLIENT HAD TO SAY:

"Surpass Your Dreams is a perfect name for your business because I have surpassed my dreams in so many ways." (Sean North, Analyst, Troy, MI)
