Are you a worrier? Would you like to stop?

The reason many of us worry today is that we have career obstacles in our way. We wish they would go away - but they won't. As we watch the stock market drop week after week, we are afraid that the economy will not improve. We are afraid that our careers will always be stuck where they are today.

So - of course you worry. Why try to stop? Maybe you enjoy worrying. Hard to believe, but as long as you keep worrying, then you don't have to take action to overcome what's really troubling you. Recognizing the "victim mentality" is important. That is, as long as "outside" thing(s) are the cause of your career woes, then you are a victim, and you can blame whomever you please. Meanwhile, you remain stuck, while those receiving your blame are moving on.

THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE

Your challenge this week is to stop worrying.

Take out a sheet of paper and put your worry at the top. Draw a line down the middle of the page, and in the left hand column write down what worrying is costing you. Are you having trouble sleeping at night? Are you spending more time alone? Are you taking less time to care for yourself? On the right hand side of the column, write down all the reasons why you will be ok and why everything will work out.

Think about how much freedom you will have when you are not worrying anymore. And who knows, this freedom might give you the burst of energy you have been looking for that will propel you towards achieving what you really want.

So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!
