MONDAY
MORNING ACTION TIP #224 |
Last week’s tip encouraged you to identify your dream career. Now that you’ve started to think about your dream career, I wanted to touch on the importance of daydreaming, using it to get an honest sense of your current situation and to guide you towards a fulfilling career.
Daydreaming can offer you a mini-escape from your daily life. When you allow the thoughts in your mind to flow without interruption, clues to your future can emerge.
I’ve seen many people utilize the tool of daydreaming on a regular basis. Why? Because from the quiet stillness of daydreaming comes great ideas and the opportunity to hear yourself think. Daydreaming can provide precious insight into your needs and desires. Daydreaming is a useful tool for reaching your goals.
THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE
Your challenge this week is to find the daydreamer in you.
Find a time for you (if only for a few minutes) and stop the activity around you. Turn off the phone, television, and radio. Find a quiet place that’s peaceful and comfortable. Let your mind go blank. Empty it of all your day-to-day responsibilities and let it go very still. Ask yourself what you really want in your career. Don’t worry if the answer does not come on the first try. If you keep at it, it will.
Use a notebook to write down whatever is going through your head. Don’t think about what you are writing about. Don’t worry about grammar or how well it’s written. Just write. Don’t try to be perfect. Your goal is for you to spend quality time with you.
So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!
