MONDAY MORNING ACTION TIP #183

STOP TALKING & START DOING

Are you working towards a career you love or are you complaining about what hasn't come to you yet?

Talking about career frustrations is healthy. Talking gets unhappy thoughts off your chest, and gives you the chance to vent them and let them go. Talking also provides you with the opportunity to bond and connect with others in similar situations. But, if you are spending more time talking, and less time doing, then you are causing more harm than good to your career.

THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE

Your challenge this week is to stop talking and start doing.

It might seem easier to talk about what's not working in your career, but it is actually much harder to NOT take action. Talking about the same thing over and over keeps you stuck because you keep reliving the situation. Thus, you can feel like there is no solution.

I am not telling you to forget your career woes, but to recognize that talking about them all the time will prevent you from moving forward.

Every time this week you want to talk about your career, do something positive instead. Do you feel like talking about they day they laid you off, AGAIN? Call two people who can help you with your job search instead. Do you feel like talking AGAIN about why you have so much work to do, and a co-worker doesn't? Make a strong case for assistance instead. Talking will prolong the problem. Taking action will help solve it.

So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!
