MONDAY
MORNING ACTION TIP #164 |
Many of us are worried about our career. We worry that we won’t find employment, keep the employment we have, or survive the demands of an increasing workload. Worrying is tough. It keeps us up at night questioning our future and ourselves.
So, why do we worry? We worry when we have a situation in front of us and we are scared that it won't work out. We are afraid that we will make the wrong decision (again), fail, or look bad in front of others. This fear keeps us from seeing a way out.
Worrying won’t move your career forward; it will only hold it back.
THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE
Your challenge this week is to end worrying.
What are you worried about? Draw two lines down the center of a piece of paper, making three columns. In the first column, list everything in your career you are worried about. In the second column, next to each item, write down how worrying holds you back. In the third column, write down why you won’t let your worrying win.
Your worries may not disappear completely, but at least they will not have the same hold over you anymore once you complete this exercise. Trust that the solution you want in your career will appear once your worrying is under control.
So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!
WHAT TO SAY WHEN...
Ever wonder what to say in these specific situations?
What do I say on an interview so I get the job? What do I say to my boss so I get the raise I want? What do I say so people will return my phone calls and e-mail's? What do I say to a difficult co-worker so we get along?
I have created a series of telephone seminars so you can learn something new; specifically what to say at certain important moments in your career.
All the experts say to ask for what you want in your career, but what's missing most of the time are the actual words to make your career goals real and your career wishes come true.
