MORNING ACTION TIP #161 |
Have you ever had a career idea that got you excited only to become discouraged moments later because you were unsure how to implement your idea?
Uncertainty and caution are normal reactions to bold ideas. We all worry at some point whether our goals are realistic and how we can accomplish them. It's acceptable to be worried. But, you do yourself a disservice if you let worry stop you.
When setting or pursuing career goals, follow your heart, not your head. Listening to yourself, not others, will head you in the right direction. Please do not get me wrong, there is much value is reading a career book, attending a seminar, or working with a career coach, but the strength and motivation to implement your goals come from you.
THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE
Your challenge this week is to listen to yourself.
Some time this week, take a few moments to be silent. (Note: It may take a few minutes to allow your mind and body to go quiet. The effort is worth it!) Ask yourself three questions. What career goal do I want to reach? When do I want to reach it? What can I do to get there?
Let the answers come to you. If you free up your thoughts and listen to your heart, you may be surprised what you hear.
Implementing your inner dreams takes courage. Especially when you believe your goals are difficult or impossible to obtain. Don't let your fears stop you! Nothing worthwhile is easy in the beginning. But over time, you will see results, if you pursue career goals that originate from you.
So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!
WHAT TO SAY WHEN...
Ever wonder what to say in these specific situations?
What do I say on an interview so I get the job? What do I say to my boss so I get the raise I want? What do I say so people will return my phone calls and e-mail's? What do I say to a difficult co-worker so we get along?
I have created a series of telephone seminars so you can learn something new; specifically what to say at certain important moments in your career.
All the experts say to ask for what you want in your career, but what's missing most of the time are the actual words to make your career goals real and your career wishes come true.
