MORNING ACTION TIP #159 |
Do you have an updated resume ready to go?
Whether you are looking for a job, or you have one, an updated resume is essential for your career.
Your resume showcases your skills and abilities to the world. It is a selling tool that outlines your skills and experiences so an employer can see, at a glance, how you can contribute to the employer's workplace.
When you are looking for work, prospective employers know immediately whether you are a fit or not for a position. If you are not looking for work, your resume reminds you of the contributions you make on a regular basis, something you can easily forget when you are immersed in the day-to-day.
THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE
Your challenge is to update your resume.
Make a list of everything you have accomplished in your present position. Then, list what you did that had a big impact or made a difference. (Everyone has this. If you cannot list it now, make a plan to list it later. Give it time. It will come to you.) Our jobs consist of what we are responsible for, as well as how we made them better than they were before we had them.
Do not worry about the design yet. Get down what you did, and then you can put what you did into a specific format.
Update your resume this week. Having this document ready to go is a powerful way to enhance your career and build your self-confidence.
So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!
WHAT TO SAY WHEN...
Ever wonder what to say in these specific situations?
What do I say on an interview so I get the job? What do I say to my boss so I get the raise I want? What do I say so people will return my phone calls and e-mail's? What do I say to a difficult co-worker so we get along?
I have created a series of telephone seminars so you can learn something new; specifically what to say at certain important moments in your career.
All the experts say to ask for what you want in your career, but what's missing most of the time are the actual words to make your career goals real and your career wishes come true.
