What words would you use to describe your career these days? Uncertainty, fear, frustration? All very normal words for our very un-normal times.

Sometimes when we are working very hard in our careers we don't want to keep moving. We are tired, discouraged, and do not believe our actions will make a difference.

Your actions do make a difference. Meaningful career goals are rarely achieved from a one time effort, but from consistent efforts over time. The small steps do matter and are critical to reaching your goals.

THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE

This week take action. Any action, but do it consistently. Can you work on a proposal for your department before you check e-mail or return phone messages in the morning? Can you send out 3 resumes after lunch? Can you surf the web and look for a book, class, or program that will help you become more successful after dinner? ½ an hour a day becomes 2 1/2 hours of completed action at the end of the week. This is much easier to handle and find time for.

Results do not occur by accident. They happen when you do the work consistently over time.

You only have one life to live so it might as well be a life you love.
