How is your career going? Are your goals progressing at a slower rate than you planned? Does the difficulty lie solely in outside circumstances, or could a poor internal dialogue be a contributing factor?

Many of the difficulties in our careers center on how we feel about ourselves. I am not saying that your opinion of yourself is the only cause of a difficult job search or a frustrating work environment.

But it does play a part. If your job search is tough and you keep telling yourself you are being "rejected," or your job is unrewarding and you keep telling yourself that you "probably will not be able to do better anywhere else" (without checking), then your view of yourself is getting in the way.

THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE

Write down 3 things you like about yourself. Are you detail minded or results oriented? Are you someone who gets things done? Are you loyal? Honest? Have a good sense of humor?

This week, focus on what you like about yourself. Your career goes in cycles; sometimes you are up and sometimes you are not. It's what you do to yourself (or say to yourself) that determines how long it takes to reach the "up" again.

How you feel about yourself matters. If you cannot like yourself when the world around you is tough, then who will?

So what do you say? You only have one life to live so it might as well be a life you love.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
