Do you only work on your career when you FEEL like working on it? Do you wait until you FEEL like tackling a challenging project, talking with a difficult co-worker, or cleaning up your desk before you take action?

It's normal that we want to wait until we FEEL like doing things before we do them. But, our lives are busy and we have to be careful with our time. Rather than dwelling on our feelings, we must regularly decide what's important or what needs to be taken care of first. If there are important areas in your career that are not being addressed, it may be time for you to work on them regardless of how you feel.

THE WEEKLY ACTION CHALLENGE

Your challenge is to work on the aspects of your career that are not working despite how you feel about them. The trick is to ignore what you feel like doing in the moment.  To get started plan your actions, and record your actions in your calendar so you don't have to think about whether you want to do them or not.

This week, write down one area of your career that has been difficult for you. List the steps you need to take or the people you need to talk to so it can be handled. Take these steps and put them into your calendar, noting what you will do, and when you will do it. Make a promise to yourself to follow your calendar. Work on the items in your calendar when you said you would, not just (and only) when you feel like it.

Waiting to be inspired before you tackle a project can be good and helpful, but waiting until you feel like it first can really hurt your progress. Get into action. Once moving, then you will feel like continuing.

So what do you say? You only have one life to live so it might as well be a life you love.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
