I. DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING?
Are you wishing for career direction? Are you waiting for the answer to come
to you before you act or move forward?
Answers come to those who are willing to do the work. But the hardest part
is knowing where to start. Start with you. Many of my clients ask me how I found a career I love. The
answer is I knew the career I had was not working for me and I make a
decision to do something about it. I asked myself what my ideal career was
and I wrote it down. I looked at it everyday. I broke down this description
into small achievable pieces so I would stay on track and stick with it.
And, I didn't give up even thought there were times I wanted to.
I spent time with positive people who supported me in my dreams. I tapped
into these individuals to help me. I worked with a coach who was
instrumental in my success. Working with a coach helped me to commit to
coaching as my own career.
So what's your ideal description for your career? What do you want? Give
yourself the time to write it down. You may be afraid because you fear you
will not get it. Or, you are afraid you will have to take action once you
know. It's much harder to keep this information from floating to the surface
than to act on it. Trust me, I know. So, what do
you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!
Would you like to locate your dream career? Find inner clarity and
direction? Use fear to your advantage? Learn how to create an action plan
for your career that gets results and helps you obtain your ultimate
profession? If yes, join Deborah Brown-Volkman as she walks you through her popular new

II. TOP REASONS TO WRITE DOWN YOUR VISION
You've probably heard that defining your vision is a good thing to do. Well, it's not just a good thing to do, but writing your vision down is crucial to achieving it. Here's why:
1. It's The Only Way To Know When You Get There.
The more willing you are to do this, the more successful your clients will become.
2. Once You Write It Down, You've Taken Your Vision From Zero Dimensions To Two Dimensions Instantly.
And two is much closer to three than zero.
3. No One Else Will Do It For You.
Few of us have been given all of the vocabulary, awareness, and distinctions we need to truly know or fully ask for what we want.
4. Have You Got Something Better To Do?
The client hired you, not just a coaching service. So, your point of view, opinions, and direction are extremely valuable to the client, as long as you know how to gracefully share what you see.
5. If You Do Have Something Better To Do, Write It Down:
IS that your vision?
6. If You Don't Define Your Vision, Someone Else Will Try To Make You A Character In Theirs.
And you won't get an Emmy for it either. What are you doing watching so much TV, anyway?
7. If Life Is A Journey, Wouldn't You At Least Like To Look Forward?
Maintain your health and fitness because this is what will help you in the long run. At the end of the day being overworked and stressed is only going to hamper your health. So take extra care of this - go for a walk, have a massage, spend time with your family, stop and smell the roses or book a yearly medical check up.
8. You Can't Get There From Here Without Knowing Where There Is.
Every coach gets some needs met by their clients; it's normal. The secret here, however, is to discover which needs are getting met and why.
9. You Can't Leave Here Without Deciding You Want To Leave.
Most coaches have their own Mentor Coach. But do you know how to maximize this relationship? You'll double the impact of being a coach.
10. If You Don't See A Vision, Then Try Different Things Until You Do. Anything That Wakes You Up From The "I Don't Know" Trance.
The most successful and effective coaches usually specialize in one or more niches.About the Author: This article was written by Elizabeth Mullen, Life Coach, who can be reached at em@elizabethmullen.com or visited at http://www.elizabethmullen.com Elizabeth wants you to know: Life is too short not to make it your big moment.
Note: I have created a two-part teleclass series that walks you through the four steps to building a profitable coaching practice. It is based on my book Four Steps To Building A Profitable Coaching Practice: A Complete Resource Guide For Business and Life Coaches.
If you are frustrated with trying to grow and market your coaching practice. Or, you feel like there is too much information (or too little) on how to market your practice, yet not enough direction on where to begin, this class gives you quick answers so marketing can be easy to apply and understand

DOUBLE YOUR EFFECTIVENESS, WITHIN MINUTES.
1. Ask More Of Your Clients Than You Would Ask Of Yourself.
The more willing you are to do this, the more successful your clients will become.
2. Prompt Your Clients To Share With You What's Most Important To Them.
The Truth attracts results and enriches a client's life. Helping your client to share what matters most to them facilitates the coaching process.
3. Help Clients Express What They Are Trying To Say Or Feel.
Few of us have been given all of the vocabulary, awareness, and distinctions we need to truly know or fully ask for what we want.
4. Call It As You See It.
The client hired you, not just a coaching service. So, your point of view, opinions, and direction are extremely valuable to the client, as long as you know how to gracefully share what you see.
5. Strengthen The Client's Strengths.
We all have our weak areas -- better to delegate these and focus, instead, on what comes easily and naturally to clients. Success comes from strengths.
6. Shift The Client Vs. Motivate.
Most coaches prefer that their clients grow quickly and permanently, which is possible when the coaching is shift-based vs. motivation-based. Meaning you are helping your clients learn something new versus just being a cheerleader.7. Impart Wisdom vs. Information.
In coaching, it's the quality of what you say, not the quantity, hence wisdom is more effective.
8. Get Your Needs Met Elsewhere.
Every coach gets some needs met by their clients; it's normal. The secret here, however, is to discover which needs are getting met and why.
9. Have A Great Mentor Coach.
Most coaches have their own Mentor Coach. But do you know how to maximize this relationship? You'll double the impact of being a coach.
10. Be On A Track To Specializing.
The most successful and effective coaches usually specialize in one or more niches.
