Many of us are worried about the uncertainly in our careers. We worry that we won't find employment, keep the employment we have, or survive the demands of an increasing workload. Worrying is tough. It keeps us up at night questioning our future and ourselves.
So, why do we worry? We worry when we have a situation in front of us and we are scared that it won't work out. We are afraid that we will make the wrong decision (again), fail, or look bad in front of others. This fear keeps us from seeing a way out.
In addition, we get something out of worrying. As long as we worry, then we don't have to do anything about what's troubling us. If some "outside" thing is happening to us, then we don't have to take any action to correct it. Plus, we get to blame whomever or whatever, and we get to be right.
Action, despite your circumstances is what will move you forward. Worrying is what will hold you back.
So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be
a life you love!
I just published a new book that can help you discover your ultimate career.
It's a combination of what I have learned to find my dream career combined
with real life examples of those individuals who have found theirs. The book
is extremely interactive and it helps you find your answers from within. The
book was a big goal for me in 2003 and I am glad to say that I did it!
Here's What's Inside The Book:
* How to locate your dream career
* How to find inner clarity and direction
* How fear can be used to your advantage
* How to create an action plan that gets results
* How to obtain your ultimate profession
While most career books concentrate on the logistics of finding the perfect
career, this book focuses on uncovering what you were meant to do with your
career from you. I hope you enjoy it.

II. TOP WAYS TO REDUCE WORRY IN YOUR WORKPLACE AND AT HOME
All of us experience worry from time to time. However as individuals or leaders of others, it's important to recognize that if we allow ourselves to be constantly affected by negative influences in our daily work and personal surroundings, then the companions of worry and stress become the constant environment in which we live. Furthermore worry and stress become the very foundation upon which we make decisions, and frequently in this state, the wrong ones!
1. What Worry Is
Worry is caused by continuous negative thoughts that develop into anxiety and stress. It creates fear or "False Experiences Appearing Real". Another way of looking at worry is as "negative imagination" or "negative goal setting." Worry is a mental response to a situation. If you have learned to worry, you can learn new skills to become aware of and eliminate the behavior.
2. Worry Is Fear
Another way of looking at worry is to see it as a sustained form of fear caused by indecision. If you are constantly suffering from worry, a good question to ask yourself is "what constant problem in my life do I avoid making a decision about?" Defining the problem (on paper) frees your mind to focus on alternative solutions.
3. SOAR Is The Anti-Dote To Worry
SOAR is a formula that can give you a clear understanding of your problems and a method for solving them. It consists of the following four steps:
S = Situation.
What exactly is the situation you are being confronted with? Write down all of the problem's components. Be sure to identify any new components that aren't apparent at first glance. Ask people close to you for their input. For example, if you are facing a career problem, then ask people in your life for their opinion. After you clearly define your problem, you may find that the solution appears out of the information gathered.
O = Obstacles.
Write down all existing and potential obstacles that may get in your way.
A = Action.
What action is required of you or members of your team to overcome the obstacles? Remember that you can't worry about something if you are working towards fixing it!
4. Live One Day At A Time.
Some problems just can't be solved overnight. Therefore, accept a written step-by-step approach towards resolution. Don't be overwhelmed by your deadlines. Instead, tell yourself: "it's best to do what I can, where I am, with what I have, and I won't worry about the rest."
5. Get The Facts
Fact-finding is a great problem-solving skill.
Sure quick thinking and decision-making are required to solve certain problems, but many problems don't require instant answers. The same applies to any worry that is currently affecting your career or your life. Define what you are worried about. Then, get the facts you need to resolve your worry the right way, not the rushed way.
6. Determine The Worst Possible Outcome (WPO) But Plan For The Best Outcome
If nothing can be done to avoid a particular outcome, accept that outcome. Usually, a carefully considered course of action can help you achieve your desired result. But when in doubt or in limbo, acknowledge that the worst may occur, but plan for the best. This is key to reducing (or eliminating!) your level of worry.
Worries may never disappear, but you can control how you react to them. Although worrying is not fun, it does build character, and it does make you stronger for the next worry. You can handle more than you think. Trust that the universe has sent you this worry for a reason. Trust that the solution will appear once you make a commitment to find one.

THIS MONTH: UNDERSTAND WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO YOUR PROSPECTS
When you are on the phone with prospects are you telling them about you, or are you asking them about them? If you have great conversations with prospects who conclude by saying "Let me think about hiring you as my coach," then you didn't find out and address what was important to them. People buy for several reasons. Here are some of the top ones:
1. People Want To Earn More Money.
They may want to start their own business, get a higher paying job, or invest wisely. Financial freedom will make them feel more successful.
2. People Want To Save Money.
They may want to invest for the future or save for a big purchase. Saving will make them feel more secure.
3. People Want To Save Time.
They may want to work less and spend time enjoying life's pleasures. Extra time will make them feel more relaxed.
4. People Want To Look Better.
They may want to lose weight, tone their body, or improve their facial features. A new look will make them feel more attractive.
5. People Want To Learn Something New.
They may want to learn how to build a business or a new deck. New skills will make them feel more intelligent.
6. People Want To Live Longer.
They may want to get in shape, eat better, or gain extra energy. A healthy lifestyle will make them feel more confident about themselves.
7. People Want To Be Comfortable.
They may want to relieve aches and pains or want to sleep in a more comfortable bed. Comfort will make them feel more comfortable.
8. People Want To Be Popular.
They may want to be a famous celebrity or be more popular at work. Recognition will make them feel more admired.
Discover what your prospects want and then put yourselves in their shoes so you can provide it. They will appreciate it and be more inclined to buy from you. About the Author: This list above was written by Larry Dotson, the President of
