I. THE UNFILLED QUEST TO BE PERFECT

We live in a world where being perfect is the accepted norm and everything else is the reason why we don't measure up or fit in. We try to be the perfect parent, spouse, lover, and friend. We try to be perfect at our jobs, at completing our to-do lists, and at finding time for ourselves.

But being perfect has a downside; it's extremely draining. We know intellectually that we shouldn't care if we are perfect or not, but the little voice inside tells us that perfect is the only way. It's the key to happiness and acceptance, and we all want to belong. We know that perfect is not realistic, but we also can't seem to find another way.

How about just accepting who you are? When you can accept that you are human, flaws and all, your quest to be perfect can disappear. Start by releasing old expectations and take each day as it comes. Life is a process. The goal is to be happy today no matter how perfect you are.

So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!

COACH YOURSELF TO A NEW CAREER

I just published a new book that can help you discover your ultimate career. It's a combination of what I have learned to find my dream career combined with real life examples of those individuals who have found theirs. The book is extremely interactive and it helps you find your answers from within. The book was a big goal for me in 2003 and I am glad to say that I did it!

Here's What's Inside The Book:

* How to locate your dream career

* How to find inner clarity and direction

* How fear can be used to your advantage

* How to create an action plan that gets results

* How to obtain your ultimate profession

While most career books concentrate on the logistics of finding the perfect career, this book focuses on uncovering what you were meant to do with your career from you. I hope you enjoy it.

THIS MONTH: BEING PERFECT CAN STAND BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR CLIENTS

Are you trying to be perfect with your clients? Your clients want your knowledge and expertise, but they also want someone who is real. Being perfect is a standard that is impossible to reach. We wouldn't tell our clients to strive for perfection, yet we worry about coming across perfect ourselves.

Earlier in my coaching practice, I felt like I had know all the answers and convey them in a perfect way. I worried that my clients would leave my coaching practice unless I coached them perfectly. What happened was exactly what I feared. Clients stopped using me a their coach. They told me it was because I didn't understand them very well. What they were really saying is that I was so worried about getting it right, that I could not listen effectively to what they were saying. Now, it's ok if I make a mistake here or there, because I am coming from a non-perfect place.

Do not try to be perfect. Your gift of coaching cannot come through if you are more concerned with how you are coaching, rather than on what your clients need from you. My advice is to be yourself. Use your gifts and talents to their fullest potential. This is what your clients really want.
