Welcome to Surpass Your Dreams. The goal of the newsletter and weekly tips is to help you recognize your potential and surpass your dreams. Included are tips for either transitioning into a career you love, excelling in the career you have now, or creating balance in your life.
This is an OPT-IN newsletter and ONLY goes to e-subscribers.
A Personal Note:
Almost a year after 9/11, and I admire the many people who have used the time to identify what's important to them in their career.
One such person is Sean North, a computer help desk expert from Troy, Michigan. Sean is also a client whose dream is to transition into training and writing. When Sean and I started working together, he knew that he was unhappy in his career, but like many people, he was unable to define what would make him happy. Over the past couple of months, he has created a plan to make his dream a reality, and we work on it together every week. Sure, he has, and will continue to face struggles on his journey, but determination and persistence will show him the way.
Sean wrote Part I & II of this month's newsletter. If you like what you read, send Sean a note of encouragement at seannorthstn@aol.com He would love to hear from you.
Here's Sean's first article:
When people talk about enrichment, they are usually
thinking of financial enrichment. (Show me the money!)
But, we can enrich many other aspects of our lives too
such as: spiritual, mental, physical, and social, as
examples. Winning the multi-dollar lotto is not
impossible, but are you spending your life waiting for
your fortune to come to you? For those of you that
feel powerless at work, you have more control over your
destiny than you think you do.
Why don't you win you OWN Lotto?!? Yes, that's right.
What is stopping you from winning big in your own life?
A friend of mine owns a PC Support service called Geeks
4 Rent. What started out as
a hobby for him a few years ago is now his full time
business. This is a guy who knew what he wanted and
devoted most of his time, money, and energy to creating
his own PC Support business. As someone who has worked
at a Helpdesk for five years, I know that very few
people have more knowledge of computers than my friend
who runs Geeks 4 Rent. He is working at his dream job
and gets paid very well for it. He won his own Lotto!
You can win your won Lotto if you embrace the challenge
and possibility of the future. Remember the Charles
Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol?" Scrooge had no
desire to change. The ghosts of Christmas Past,
Present, and Future convinced Scrooge to change by
showing him where he had been, where he was, and where
he'd end up if he continued to live his life the way he
did. By the end of the story, Scrooge was a changed man
because he learned to embrace the future rather than be
afraid of it.
Yes. Change IS scary. The unknown is scary too. Too
many of us live with regret and we hold on to past
mistakes. Of course, there are some regrets that we
cannot overcome. But we CAN react to present events and
be proactive about avoiding tomorrow's misgivings. What
do you want your future to bring? What do you want your
life to look like? How will you win your own Lotto?
So, what do you say? You only have one life to live,
so it might as well be a life you love!
II. TOP WAYS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR TALENTS AT WORK
Are you maximizing your strengths and promoting your
talents at work? If you have sharp analytical skills,
have you sought to apply those skills to your current
job? I know it sounds crazy to ask for more work when
you are already overloaded, but any assistance that
you can provide now will ultimately help you advance
in your present position or in a future one.
You have gifts and talents to offer the world. Your current or potential employer desperately needs to use your talents NOW, especially since they are focused on increasing revenue.
Just what ARE your talents and how can you apply them to your career?
1. Discover Your Hidden Talents
a) What are your strengths and weaknesses? b) How can you capitalize on your strengths and improve your weaknesses? c) Can you enhance your strengths and dissipate your weaknesses by learning on-the-job or by taking additional classes or training?
2. Promote Your Talents Within
a) Once you have an analysis of the talents you have to offer, start promoting them. If you don't tout them, then no one will. b) Talk with your boss about helping out the team. Your pathway to the top is by being someone who can be counted on.
3. Take Action
a) After you tell your employer about your hidden talents and your ideas for using them, you must live by your words. Remember your integrity is at stake and that means something. b) Using your talents is not a one-day project; it is a way to live and work more effectively every day. So go out there, and put your talent to work!
It may be hard to focus on your talents when the world around you is so uncertain. Put your worries behind you, and your best foot forward. You can be proud of your effort no matter what the future may bring, because you swung out and gave it your best shot.

LOVE WHAT YOU DO EVERYDAY!
Do you want a career you love? If you answered YES, then working with a coach may be your next move!
If you answered YES to any of the above, then working with a coach may be your next move. Many people who have worked with me can now say "I love what I do!"
Act Now! Take the first step and visit http://www.surpassyourdreams.com to find out how to get started.
Since many of my newsletter subscribers are coaches, this section is for you. It contains tips and techniques
to take your coaching practice to the next level. WIN AS A COACH
Where are you not winning in your coaching practice?
Being a coach today is tough. We are juggling trying
to figure who we are, who we coach, how to educate
potential clients about what we do, while trying to
grow our practices. We are creating our businesses from
scratch and are confronting the challenge of succeeding
on our own. Not only do we have to find time to do it
all, we also have to battle our reasons and excuses why
we don't have what we want yet..
Where in your life are you not taking chances? How
would you like your practice to take off, but have been
afraid to take the next step or jump to the next level?
As coaches, our practices will grow when we grow them.
We are in the phase of the coaching cycle where we have
to market ourselves or be unknown or misunderstood.
We do not have the option of joining the coaching
department of a large corporation because very few
corporations have a coaching department. Yes, there
are companies today that are moving in this direction,
but overall, we are on our own.
Self-sufficiency is good news because it will train you
to get out of your box and out of your way. Imagine if
you could speak about coaching with ease? Imagine if
you could write articles or give presentations that
inspire? Imagine being everything you've ever imagined
and more? This is what we want for our clients? Why
wouldn't we want this for ourselves?
So go out there and win. Be self-sufficient and be
proud of it! The reward is looking back and knowing
that you did it.

DID YOU KNOW THAT THE SEARCH ENGINES ARE REJECTING
SUBMISSIONS THAT ARE NOT DONE BY HAND? Worse, your web
site could be banned for life if you do not follow a
manual process. My public relations person, Anne
Marie, created a company called Search Engines By Hand.
She has 20 people working for her and all they do is
submit your site by hand on a monthly basis. Very
reasonable for all the work that they do. And, please
join her affiliate program like I did. I have a feeling
that her service is going to be really big!
