Has your work life been crazy lately?
Today's work environment is tough. Psychologically, the uncertainty has taken a toll on all of us. In many cases we are not as successful as we were a few years ago. And, even though we know it is not our fault, we are blaming ourselves.
After all, whom else can we blame? If we are sending out resumes and not getting replies, it has to be something we have done wrong. Maybe we did not use the right words. Maybe our cover letter was not that effective. Maybe nobody wants us. If we are at work and a project we wanted funded was turned down, it has to be our fault. Maybe we did not have the right conversations with the right people. Maybe we did not propose the idea very well.
Here is the truth; it is not your fault. You are working harder than you ever have in very difficult times. Applaud your effort. And, please know that you are not alone.
But, no matter what is happening to you right now, you still can take control. If you are unemployed, taking another job until your ideal job comes along may not be such a bad idea. At least you will be working and you will feel more in control. If you are slated to be laid off, kick yourself into gear. Is your resume updated? Can you interview successfully? Take control by getting ready. If you are doing more with fewer resources, how can you get creative? Buck the trend that says this is how it has always been done. Come up with a new way of making your workplace run more efficiently. And, who knows, that raise you have been wishing for may happen as a result of your hard work.
Yes, things are tough, but you are tougher. It's time to put the control back into your hands.
So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love!

II. TOP THINGS IN LIFE YOU CAN CONTROL
1. What You Do
Your actions are yours alone. You choose to make them or not make them. You are responsible for the effects of those actions.
2. What You Say
Likewise, the words you speak (or write) are also consciously chosen. Like actions, they have an impact on your life and the lives of those you contact.
3. What You Think
Yes, there are some subconscious thoughts that you can't control. But the things that you really think about, your beliefs, your ideals, etc., are concepts you have chosen to accept and believe in.
4. Your Work
Many people like to overlook this one. It is much easier to say: Oh, I'm trapped in my job because I don't have a degree, experience, etc. Hogwash! That's simply a way of denying one's responsibility in having chosen the job in the first place. It's your job and you choose it. If you stay (or go), that's a choice as well.
5. The People You Associate With
There's a famous t-shirt that states: It's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. Colloquial is very often correct! Your friends can either lift you up or bring you down. You make the decision which type of friends you wish to have.
6. Your Basic Physical Health
Much about our health is a factor of genetics, environment, and exposure. Much more of our health is simply a matter of the things we choose: diet, exercise, drugs, sleep, routine physicals, check-ups, etc.
7. The Environment You Live In
Your house, the condition of your home, the town you live in, the amenities available to you are all things you can control, although some to a lesser degree (i.e., you decide to tolerate them or move someplace else).
8. Your Fiscal Situation
Having, or not having, enough money is a factor of what you make versus what you spend. Sometimes people find that the more money they earn, the less they seems to have, and they realize that, at one time, they had more that they thought even though they were earning less.
9. Your Time
You choose how to spend your time and how much of your time to give to various activities. You'll never get more time than the 24 hours you're given each day.
10. Your Legacy
All your actions, words, and knowledge that you share while you are living become the gift that you leave when you are gone.

Act Now! Take the first step and visit http://www.surpassyourdreams.com to find out how to get started.
Since many of my newsletter subscribers are coaches, this section is for you. It contains tips and techniques
to take your coaching practice to the next level. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR PRACTICE
Are you making money as a coach?
I speak to many coaches who are not making money as a
coach. They tell me that their practice is not what
they envisioned when they first thought about becoming
a coach. They had dreams of busy waiting rooms and
phones ringing off the hook. They are still waiting for
this to happen.
One barrier for some coaches is that they do not
recognize the value of their services. Clients will
never just come to us. We have to prove to them that
coaching is effective and that it can alter their
lives. But when we go overboard, (Free everything),
it diminishes what we do.
If you want to take control of your practice, treat
it as a practice. You are making a difference in the
world, but you are also running a business. It is ok
to charge for your work. It is ok to make money. In
fact it is a necessary part of being a coach, as a
successful coach can positively affect the lives of
others.

Did you know that the search engines are rejecting
submissions that are not done by hand. Worse, your web
site could be banned for life if you do not follow a
manual process. My public relations person, Anne
Marie, created a company called Search Engines By Hand.
She has 20 people working for her and all they do is
submit your site by hand on a monthly basis. Very
reasonable for all the work that they do. And, please
join her affiliate program like I did. I have a feeling
that her service is going to be really big!

MY COACH, Jonathan Flaks, has recreated one of his workshops
on Audio CD. It is an amazing program called "Who Are You,
Bringing Out Your Best In Business" It guides you through a
process to re-ignite your passion, clarify your purpose, revive
your vision AND guide you to a SELF MOTIVATING vision statement.
This workshop has led hundreds of people in classrooms to clarity
who they are in business. Now you can get your workshop at home. Visit his Executive Coaching site at http://www.jf-executive-coaching.com and click "Who Are You, Inc." for more information. GIVE THIS NEWSLETTER
