We send this newsletter only to those who have requested it. To SUBSCRIBE, please visit http://www.surpassyourdreams.com and click on the "Free Newsletter" button to sign-up.

NOTE: BEGINNING THIS MONTH, "SURPASS YOUR DREAMS" NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS WILL BE RECEIVING WEEKLY TIPS IN ADDITION TO THE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER.

The weekly tips are designed to encourage, motivate, and empower you so you can create a career and a life you love. I made the change because I found that a monthly newsletter was great for overall learning, but weekly tips were more effective for attaining goals quickly.

IF YOU PREFER NOT TO RECEIVE THE WEEKLY TIPS, SEE THE UNSUBSCRIBE INFORMATION AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS E-MAIL.

Please note that UNSUBSCRIBING to the weekly tips will also unsubscribe you to the monthly newsletter.)

I. DO YOU FIND TIME FOR YOURSELF DURING THE DAY?

Most of us have to work. And, the demands of a full time job (or more!) can sometimes be frustrating, overwhelming and exhausting.

We might start the day saying we will find time for "us" during the day, then the pressures of the job get in the way. We might say that we will have salad for lunch, then we smell French fries, or feel like we "deserve" a reward, and our promise to be healthy goes away. We might say that we will go to the gym at lunchtime, and then we break this promise because of an unexpected project deadline (aren't they all unexpected?). We might say we will meet a best friend, spouse, or co-worker for lunch, only to break this promise because we have too much work to do. There will always be too much work to do, but why do your promises to yourself get lost in the process?

When was the last time you saw the outside world during the day? When was the last item you ordered something healthy for lunch? When was the last time you took time just for you?

You come home from work tired because you have not stopped all day. You have a hard time relaxing in the evening because you have not relaxed all day. You have no energy to cook, go to the gym, or see friends (or spend time with your spouse and kids), because you drained all your energy during the day.

Is there a better way? Yes, and it is up to you to chose it.

How about taking time for yourself today even if you have work to do? Take a short walk (without the cell phone), stop at the deli (or health food store), and pick up a healthy lunch. Don't bring it back to the office. Instead, look around, find someplace new to eat, and watch the world go by for a few minutes. This will make such a difference in your day. You will give yourself time to gather your thoughts and reflect on your morning. You will give yourself time to get perspective, and focus on what you want to accomplish during the afternoon. You will give yourself time to get to know yourself again, and this will result in a happier and satisfied you when you are not at work.

Balance between work and play does not only occur after work. It also occurs during the day. Make time for yourself and reap the rewards of work days that have more perspective, clarity, and less stress!

II. TOP WAYS FOR BETTER HEALTH AND BETTER DAYS AT WORK

Everyone talks about work becoming more stressful, but no one does anything about it! You can't control your boss or the budget or the world economy, but you can make smart choices about how you handle your day.

1. In The Morning, Limit Caffeine To One Cup.

Or better yet, switch to herbal teas! Start out calm and you're more likely to stay that way through the day.

2. Use Up-Beat Music And Humor To Get Your Morning Off To A Great Start.

3. Make Sure Your First Appointment Of The Day Is A Great One!

Meet a friend for breakfast, greet co-workers with a big smile, schedule a favorite client first thing in the morning. Start the day with some fun!

4. At Mid-Morning, Stand Up, Stretch And Move Around, At Least For A Moment.

Take several deep breaths, wave your hands above your head, be silly, dance a jig, but move your body!

5. Eat A Light Lunch Of Fruits, Vegetables And Carbohydrates.

The traditional soup and salad is great, or a half-sandwich and an apple. Your body needs sustenance, not a heavy load, so lighten up!

6. Take A Few Minutes During Your Lunch Break To Do Something Totally Different.

Read poetry, call an old friend, take a nap, or go for a run. What you do is not as important as getting your mind and body away from your work. Take a real break!

7. During The Afternoon, Stand Up And Stretch At Least Once Every Hour.

Gently arch your back, touch your toes, or touch the ceiling. Turn your head from side to side, and take some deep cleansing breaths. And while you're at it, smile!

8. When Stress And Work Pile Up, Take A Mini-Vacation.

Close the door (or go to the restroom, or a broom closet if you have to!) but get alone, close your eyes, and imagine a tropical island, or your favorite picnic spot. Life is good! Breath slowly, and relax.

9. Once A Day, Do Something "Extra".

Call an old client to check in, thank a colleague for a referral, send a note to a friend. Have fun with this. Make it a game to combine business with pleasure and broaden your circle of contacts.

10. At The End Of The Day, Clean Off Your Desk, And Straighten Up The Office.

The janitor will do the routine stuff, but take pleasure in closing down for the day. Develop a routine that signals the end of the day. It's time to quit, and go home.

III. USE THE POWER OF A GROUP TO GET YOUR NEXT JOB QUICKER!

Have you been laid off due to the sluggish economy? Are you still looking for a job? Would you like to be a part of a group where you can network with peers, get support, and have access to resources you would not have on your own?

I have room in my "Life After The Layoff" coaching group. This group has been designed to jump start your job search, and decrease the time it takes to find your next position. Why conduct a job search by yourself, when you can use the power of a group to find one quicker?

If you are interested in joining the free introduction teleclass taking place on August 9th at 9PM EST, or would like information on how to join the group when it begins on August 14th, send an e-mail to info@surpassyourdreams.com with "Life After The Layoff" in the Subject.

IV. COACHES CORNER

Since many of my newsletter subscribers are coaches, this section is for you. It contains tips and techniques to take your coaching practice to the next level.

THIS MONTH: YOUR WEB-SITE

What does your web-site say about you? Does it portray a professional person I can count on and trust, or a person I will send my money to and never hear from again?

Your web-site is one of the most important items you can create for your practice. It shows the world who you are, what you do, and why they should buy from you. It can be viewed by anyone, at anytime, anywhere in the world. It sells your coaching services when you are asleep, so you can have more clients when you are awake. Why would you want it to convey anything less that the best it can be?

What is one action you can take this week to either get your web-site up and running, or expanded so it is more than a one page brochure? And, if your site is comprehensive, what is the one thing that you have wanted to do with your site, but have not done so because you are unfamiliar with the technology? Yes, it will take time and money, but this is an investment in your most important asset, which is you!

Would you like more of the above on a one-on-one basis? Visit coaches.html to see mentor coaching programs created just for you.
